Saturday Box Launches Subscription Service for Kinky Date Night Adventures in Time for Valentine's Day
Saturday Box (saturdaybox.com), a leader in innovative erotic experiences, is launching a subscription service to enhance couples’ intimacy and exploration year-round. Founded in February 2024 by romance novelist and “sexpert,” Emma Xin Velicky, Saturday Box offers immersive date night adventures that encourage couples to reconnect and engage in fantasy fulfillment through storytelling, kink education, and curated products.
In less than a year, Saturday Box has expanded from offering three individual boxes to a subscription service that lets members choose a new adventure every three months. This new option will ensure that fun, romance and a bit of kink are always on the calendar! The latest box, set to arrive just in time for Valentine’s Day, transports the couple to the realm of a mischievous fairy and the hunter who must tame her.
“Couples have a lot of trouble getting what they want out of sex,” says Velicky. “According to a study of 4,000 American adults, while 97% had sexual fantasies, less than a third had actually acted on them. The kinky sex that so many people want to have is hard to plan for and often embarrassing to shop for. Our mission is to make sure that they have everything they need to feel confident and safe taking (or ceding) control in the bedroom. At Saturday Box, we believe that every couple deserves the opportunity to bring their fantasies to life in a fun, approachable way.
Embracing male domination/female submission from the female gaze, each Saturday Box adventure puts a kinky twist on a classic fantasy. Whether it’s a boss disciplining a wayward secretary or an interrogator chasing a charming spy, the adventures are carefully crafted to improve intimacy and heighten desire. The cleverly designed cards have easy-to-follow steps and incorporate a matching set of props, toys, and lingerie. With multiple character cards for each role, a safety checklist, and an additional sensual activity, couples can sculpt the adventure to their individual tastes. And according to experts, couples that “play” together stay together. Says Dear Divorce Coach Cherie Morris, “Saturday Box is a product that can reignite new relationship energy by launching conversations between partners who haven’t been able to talk to each other about intimate matters, perhaps ever.”
The new subscription is designed to fit seamlessly into busy lifestyles, providing couples with a reliable source of date night inspiration. Every 3 months, members can select a new Classic Box for $69 (regular price $89) and receive everything they need for the adventure, or a new Eco box (cards only) for $24 (regular price $29) . Unlike other subscriptions, the intentionally relaxed pace leaves room for anticipation and allows for seamless switching between Classic and Eco, so couples never receive more than they need. Says Velicky, “With the launch of our subscription service, even more couples will be able to elevate their intimacy and celebrate their kinky side. Good intimacy is serious business…it keeps relationships alive!”

About Saturday Box
Founded in 2024, Saturday Box was created by 26 year old entrepreneur Emma Xin Velicky, whose own interest in kink and post-marriage erotic exploration inspired her to find a “wholesome” way for couples to turn toward each other and see the fantasy in the person sleeping next to them every night. Available through subscription or individual purchase, these date night adventures boxes help couples explore kink and romance on their own terms.

For Emma Xin Velicky, founding Saturday Box represented the convergence of all her life experiences. The 26-year-old author, filmmaker, mobile game writer, and “sexpert” created the company to make it easier for couples to explore their sexual fantasies, something she had long grappled with as she came to terms with her own interest in kink.
Adopted from China into an evangelical Italian-American family, Emma grew up in a community where sex was only ever talked about as a bad thing to have before marriage. Her first stirrings of ‘kink’ came in the form of a recurring childhood dream about being kidnapped by Aladdin’s Jafar. For years, she struggled with what to do with these secret yearnings. In her community, she was branded a Jezebel long before she ever lost her virginity. As she moved away from the church, she began to experiment, but as a sexually submissive Asian woman, it was difficult to be true to herself without encouraging stereotypes. Even when she built up the courage to ask for what she wanted, most of her partners didn’t know how to provide it.
Graduating from Dartmouth College with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Creative Writing, she joined Microsoft as a product manager and published an historical BDSM novel Caribbean Reign on the side (available on Amazon.) Though the job was stifling, she was fortunate to meet her husband Alex in Seattle and embark on a new period of erotic exploration. In marriage, Emma’s kinkiness was able to bloom. With Alex, she felt safe to try new things and make mistakes. With his encouragement, she quit her tech job and devoted herself to creative pursuits, taking a job writing romance mobile games and completing a film program at University of Washington, producing two original romantic film shorts, Til Death and Weaponized Incompetence.
But as much as Emma loved telling stories, she felt called to narrow the gap between fiction and reality. As a "sexpert" to her friends, she knew that questions about "how to get started with kink" and "what to do after you've tied someone up" were more common than you might think. Emma began to explore a “wholesome” way for couples to turn toward each other and see the fantasy in the person sleeping next to them every night. There was an opening for a playful incarnation of kink that could help people love that part of themselves, while avoiding the common pitfalls of bedroom power dynamics.
Tinkering with this idea throughout the Dartmouth Alumni Consumer Startup Accelerator, she emerged the winner at the culminating pitch night. Three months later, in February, 2024, she launched the first Saturday Box adventure, and before the end of her first year in business, she’ll be launching a subscription so that couples can continue to invest in their intimacy. Says Emma, “Good intimacy is serious business– it keeps relationships alive.”

Q&A with Emma, Founder of Saturday Box
What is Saturday Box?
Saturday Box offers immersive date night adventures that encourage couples to turn toward each other for fantasy fulfillment. Each adventure puts you at the center of a classic love story - with a kinky twist. Our cleverly-designed cards and accessories help you have the erotic experiences you fantasize about with the person you love most.
What was your motivation for creating the product?
For kinky people like me, it’s life changing to be able to share that side of yourself with your partner. But learning through trial-and-error can be dispiriting - especially for submissive women. As a romance author with a game design background, I wanted to create something that was exciting and inviting from the moment you open the box. Kink deserves to be fun, even the first time around.
What is kink?
A kink can be any sexual desire that is considered outside of the norm, but often refers to desire adjacent to BDSM, where one partner enjoys power over the other. This power exchange can play out in many ways (bondage, impact play, role play scenarios, etc.), but the requirement for absolute consent means that either partner can back out or stop playing at any time. Kink is a way to connect to raw, wild feelings of desire while still honoring the trust and safety of a healthy relationship.
What is the research behind your focus on sexual fantasy and kink?
The Kinsey Institute did some incredible work that surveyed 4,000 American adults and found that 97% of them reported having sexual fantasies. 79% wanted to act on those fantasies in real life. In the end, less than a third ever take action - even though a majority of them are fantasizing about their current partner. It’s so damn hard to open up, but when you actually do something about it, 92% of people said it went as good or better than they dreamed.
When I look at these numbers, I see a culture of shame that keeps a lot of people from true fulfillment. Why is BDSM considered taboo if 25% of people are citing it as their favorite fantasy? There’s an unfortunate way that kink can be portrayed as something for freaks. But as kink continues to make appearances in the mainstream media, there’s an opportunity to redefine it as something playful, intimate, even romantic.
How will couples benefit from the immersive date nights designed by Saturday Box?
Couples that play together stay together. There’s a real challenge in long-term relationships to keep the spark alive, but novelty for novelty’s sake can ring hollow. You have to zero in on those shared desires. Kink is well-suited for long-term play because it requires immense trust and communication. It’s an intoxicating mix of being able to see the person you love in a new light and entrusting your safe person with your “dark” desires. Our adventures take the guesswork out of the equation and let you focus on having fun. We’re at our best when we’re having fun.
What is your background and how did it lead you to Saturday Box?
I grew up in a community that didn’t really talk about sex except to shame it, but I was branded a Jezebel long before I lost my virginity. Maybe they could sense my recurring dreams about being kidnapped by Jafar. I figured out quickly that I was going to have to forge my own path. And it wasn’t easy. As a sexually submissive Asian woman, the road to satisfaction was fraught with stereotypes and clueless partners.
Kink is portrayed in the mainstream media as something for freaks, but I always felt like it could be something different. I gravitated toward electrically-charged romances, where it was clear that the power dynamic was driving the sexual tension. Why couldn’t real life be more like that?
It wasn’t until I got married that I unlocked the full playground. With my husband, I experienced a sense of safety that empowered me to experiment with all sorts of submissive roles. I turned my creative energies toward devising a better way for couples to share their fantasies with each other. I could take what I learned writing romance novels, games, and erotic film shorts to create something playful, intimate, and romantic. Something that could help people celebrate their kinky side and share it with their partner.
And thus, Saturday Box was born.
How do you come up with the box’s themes, scenarios and characters?
Since desire often expresses itself through fantasy, we start with iconic tropes where there’s a clear power dynamic and an opportunity for sexual tension. We’re looking for classic pairings (boss and secretary, spy and interrogator, inmate and warden, etc.) where the average couple is familiar with the broad strokes, but we still have room to innovate. We want couples to have a great time whether they play through the adventure or just play with the stuff in the box.
Our design philosophy is to make sure that the players have everything they need to feel confident taking (or ceding) control in the bedroom - without overwhelming them or stifling their creativity. For example, we have multiple character cards for each role, so people can really make it their own. We recognize that different partners may have different levels of experience, so we also include a starter adventure that focuses more on sensuality with ideas on how to add kink and roleplay elements, if desired.
How does the subscription work and your recommendations on how couples can plan their Saturday nights with Saturday Box?
We’ve recently added a commitment-free subscription to keep intimacy and exploration on the calendar. Every 3 months, they can select a new Classic box for $69 (regular price $89) or a new Eco box for $24 (regular price $29). Unlike other subscriptions, the intentionally relaxed pace leaves room for anticipation. And if a couple starts to fill up their bedroom arsenal, they can switch their subscription to Eco and enjoy a new adventure with the stuff they already have.
A Saturday Box commemorates a special occasion, but that special occasion can be finding the time to reconnect and focus on your partner. To get the most out of your experience, we recommend getting into a state of heightened connection in the time leading up to your adventure. That could begin the day of, or the week of. All intimate activities, but kink especially, require an atmosphere of trust and safety.
Start with a sprinkle of encouragement. Talk to your partner about something you’re excited to try in the adventure. Voice your excitement about how great they’re going to look or a new sensation you can’t wait to experience. Tease them over text in-character to practice your roleplaying skills.
If you’re feeling intimidated, open the box early and go over some of the cards to start thinking about what you might like to try. Our overview card includes a watch party recommendation so you can ease into the genre. The night before, cuddle up with a movie and lean into a comfortable form of physical touch. All our adventures include a safety checklist, so we can help to facilitate the conversations to get you started.
How can sexual submission empower women?
Kink can be a radical act of self care. Many sexually submissive women are quite dominant in their normal life. They run around with the world on their shoulders, putting a ton of pressure on themselves to keep it all together. It’s incredibly powerful to have a space where you can let go and trust someone else enough to take the lead. A partner who can hold space for both your power and your vulnerability allows you to relax into the fullest version of yourself.
Where does the name Saturday Box come from?
Saturday is often cited as the most common day of the week to have sex. It’s the first day of the weekend, and it may be the couple’s first chance to give each other focused attention. We want to help people to see a kinky experience as a high point of their week, a special occasion that can become a regular part of their sex lives, and not something so intimidating.
